15 reasons why I became a content creator.<\/p>\n

When I first started creating content, there was one question I was asked more often than any other:<\/p>\n

\u201cWhy did you actually get involved in this?\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

As if there were only one answer.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

15 reasons why I became a content creator<\/h2>\n

 <\/p>\n

The truth? There are at least fifteen of them.<\/p>\n

1. Because I love to create<\/strong><\/p>\n

I write, take photographs, make films and come up with concepts. For me, creating content is a creative outlet.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

2. Because I wanted to be my own boss<\/strong><\/p>\n

No performance reviews. No office politics. Just the freedom to decide for myself what my working day looks like. When I want to work, how I want to work, what I want to create, for how long and how much.<\/p>\n

As an adult, I don\u2019t want to have to ask permission to take a break or a day off on my children\u2019s birthdays, or to do something fun with my mum \u2013 just to give a few examples.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

3. Because I wanted to earn money doing something I\u2019m good at<\/strong><\/p>\n

You often enjoy doing things you\u2019re good at. And when you enjoy doing something, you naturally get good at it. For me, creating is more of a hobby than a job.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

4. Because I was curious<\/strong><\/p>\n

I wondered whether I could build up an audience. Whether people would actually find my work interesting enough. I was ready for a new challenge and wondered if I could make my account and website a success.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

5. Because I love photography<\/strong><\/p>\n

Taking a good photo is still a challenge. Lighting, composition, angle, styling\u2026 I really enjoy all of that.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

6. Because I wanted to reinvent myself<\/strong><\/p>\n

After decades of working, I fancied trying something completely different. Even in my younger days, I\u2019d always wanted to be a glamour model, but back then I didn\u2019t have the right measurements. Now, with platforms like OnlyFans, Fansly and F2F, that doesn\u2019t matter any more.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

7. Because I love running a business<\/strong><\/p>\n

Building a website, SEO, marketing, social media, pricing strategies\u2026 it\u2019s all part of the job.<\/p>\n

As an entrepreneur, you also determine your own income. If you run your business well, you\u2019ll earn more than if you do very little.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

8. Because freedom is important to me<\/strong><\/p>\n

I work when I\u2019m at my most productive. That suits me much better.<\/p>\n

But there\u2019s something else. My work as a content creator gives me an incredible amount of freedom. At times when others are working for their bosses, I\u2019m spending quality time with the people I love. I\u2019d much rather do that than stand in a shop or sit in an office \u2013 that\u2019s a conscious choice.<\/p>\n

Besides, who wouldn\u2019t prefer to lie in the sun at 25 degrees? Or, in winter, cosy up at home by the warm fire to read or watch a series.<\/p>\n

9. Because I wanted to reach people<\/strong><\/p>\n

Not just with photos, but also with blogs, ideas and stories. Writing is my passion. If my blogs can help even one person to make their dreams come true, then my mission will have been a success.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

10. Because I can let my imagination run wild<\/strong><\/p>\n

Cosplay, roleplay, fetish, themes\u2026 I enjoy coming up with something new all the time. When a fan or client commissions a custom video and tells me in a few words what they\u2019d like to see, I love writing a script for it.<\/p>\n

And I feel proud when the end result is even better than he or she had expected.<\/p>\n

11. Because I didn\u2019t want to hide away any more<\/strong><\/p>\n

At one point, I thought:<\/p>\n

Why should I be ashamed of something I enjoy doing? Or hold back because someone else might not like it as much?<\/p>\n

As if other people always do exactly what I like or approve of.<\/p>\n

What does it matter what other people think or do? As long as you\u2019re not harming anyone else and it makes you happy, it shouldn\u2019t matter how you earn your money.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

12. Because I\u2019m always learning<\/strong><\/p>\n

New software, cameras, algorithms, AI, marketing, photo locations\u2026 there\u2019s something new to discover every day.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

13. Because it\u2019s never boring<\/strong><\/p>\n

No two days are the same. That suits me down to the ground. I never know in advance what kind of custom requests I\u2019ll get, how a shoot will turn out, or what the fans\u2019 reactions will be.<\/p>\n

Just as with traditional relationships, I also apply the Three Terrible V\u2019s at work.<\/p>\n

Expectation. Obligation. Predictability.<\/p>\n

If at all possible, I try to avoid them.<\/p>\n

14. Because I like to surprise people<\/strong><\/p>\n

Whether it\u2019s an original photo, a funny tweet, a unique custom design or a blog that takes a slightly different angle. I love content that isn\u2019t run-of-the-mill. In every field.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

15. Because it makes me happy<\/strong><\/p>\n

Perhaps that\u2019s actually the most important reason of all. What I do makes me happy. And for me, that\u2019s a better measure than the opinions of people who only see the outside.<\/p>\n

What\u2019s more, my partner thinks it\u2019s brilliant that I\u2019m doing this. Making him proud by creating new content time and time again really makes me happy.<\/p>\n

15 reasons why<\/h2>\n

People often think there\u2019s only one reason why someone becomes a content creator. Money. Attention. Or something else they\u2019ve made up their own minds about.<\/p>\n

But the reality is far less straightforward.<\/p>\n

As you can see, \u2018attention\u2019 doesn\u2019t feature on my list, whereas for another content creator this might well be one of the main reasons.<\/p>\n

For me, freedom is more important than money, whilst another creator might well go for that villa.<\/p>\n

Behind every creator lies a different story. This is mine.<\/p>\n
